239 more arrested in special police operation in the capital

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 239 people in a drive to maintain public safety and law and order. They were arrested in a 24-hour period from 12 midnight on Thursday to 12 midnight on Friday. During this period, 73 cases have been registered.

This information was given in a press release sent by the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Department on Friday. It said that out of the 239 people arrested in the 24 hours, seven were robbers. Apart from this, there are 20 robbers, 4 extortionists, 10 thieves, 17 drug dealers, 23 warranted accused and others involved in various crimes.

The release said that two rods, a hammer, a machete, a machete, five knives and 10 knives were recovered from the arrested people in the police drive. In addition, eight mobile phones, two chocolate bombs, 41 kg 650 grams of marijuana, 307 yaba, 36 grams of heroin and 33 bottles of domestic liquor have been recovered. Police said that in the last 24 hours, 667 patrol teams have been on duty in two shifts in 50 police stations of DMP. The teams include 479 mobile patrol teams, 73 foot patrol teams and 115 Honda patrol teams. In addition, 71 police check posts of DMP have been operated at various important and strategic locations to increase security in the metropolitan area.
