5 arrested in joint forces operation in Chandpur

The arrested are former upazila vice-chairmen SM Kabir, Abu Zafar and SM Fazlul Rahman and Abdus Chattar and Sohrab Hossain of Matlab Uttar Upazila.

The army said that five people were arrested in two separate joint operations on Sunday (October 6) night based on secret information. Later, they were handed over to their respective police stations for legal action. The joint forces’ operation to arrest all the armed men, including the terrorists who attacked innocent students and public in the district on August 4 and 5, and to recover illegal weapons is ongoing.

Haimchar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Yasin said that Shamsuddoha of Amtali area of ​​the upazila filed a case against the three people arrested in the joint forces’ operation at the police station. They were sent to the Chandpur court as accused in that case this afternoon.

Matlab Uttar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rabiul Haque said that Chattar and Sohrab attacked and vandalized the house of a person named Tolamati Begum of Ladhua village of the upazila over the issue of giving a statement in a case. They are accused in three cases and accused of terrorist activities. They were sent to Chandpur court at 11 am on Monday.
