Yunus-Modi meeting shows a ray of hope

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that the meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the chief advisor of the interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, has given new hope.

He made this comment while talking to reporters after exchanging Eid greetings with prominent figures from the country’s sports field at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan on Friday evening. Earlier, this afternoon, the meeting between the chief advisor, Professor Muhammad Yunus, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi took place in the Thai capital, Bangkok. This is the first meeting between the leaders of the two neighboring countries in the face of the political change in Bangladesh in the face of the student-public uprising.

When asked by reporters about the meeting, Mirza Fakhrul said, “It is a matter of great joy. We think that in the context of geopolitics and the current global context, the economic context of Bangladesh and India, the meeting between the Chief Advisor and the Indian Prime Minister is creating a ray of hope for us.’

The BNP Secretary General expressed hope that the relationship between Bangladesh and India will become stronger as a result of this meeting. He said, ‘The possibility has been created that the “bitterness” that has developed in the relations between India and Bangladesh should not go further or that it should decrease.’

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir also said, ‘From what I have seen so far, I feel that both of them (Professor Yunus and Narendra Modi) are quite sincere in this regard and it will undoubtedly benefit the people of Bangladesh and the people of India, the people of both countries.’
