Strong protest over cancellation of ‘Zay Zay Din’ announcement

Strong protest over cancellation The current authorities and journalists of the newspaper have strongly protested against the cancellation of the newspaper’s manifesto following the application of former editor Shafiq Rehman. At a press conference at Dhaka Reporters Unity on Wednesday, the acting editor of the newspaper, Kazi Rukunuddin Ahmed, along with the current owners and journalists, protested against the illegal occupation of the newspaper’s head office and the unfair cancellation of the manifesto.

Strong protest over cancellation In a written statement, Kazi Rukunuddin said, “A sinister group led by Shafiq Rehman has illegally occupied the head office and printing press. They are conspiring to take away the newspaper ‘Zayzay Din’ from its current owner Sayeed Hossain Chowdhury by resorting to lies and fraud. We have tried to resolve the matter privately, respecting this senior journalist. But this group is constantly trying to influence the law and courts with lies and fabricated information.’

He further said, ‘After the office and printing press of ‘Jayjay Din’ was seized in the Tejgaon industrial area, the newspaper was continued to be printed from another press following the correct rules and the DC office was informed about the change of location. Even then, in view of Shafiq Rehman’s application, the DC office cancelled the newspaper’s manifesto on baseless pretexts.’

Kazi Rukunuddin said, ‘The government has repeatedly spoken about the freedom of the media, yet an influential group has used the system to cancel the manifesto of a legally run media.’
