Attack on two people

According to Upazila Puja Udjapan Parishad sources, Sanjay and Khokon were returning home last night after seeing a dead relative. When they reached the Ramakrishnapur Government Primary School at around 10 pm, miscreants ambushed them with rods and sticks. They broke Sanjay’s left hand and beat him up on his chest and legs. Khokon’s right leg, chest and stomach were injured. Hearing his screams, people around came forward and rescued them and first took them to the Lalpur Upazila Health Complex. Later, they were sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital from there.

Sanjay Karmakar said that when he was the general secretary of the ashram, the administration took the initiative to form a new committee at the instigation of his opponent Uttam Mandal. He filed a case in the court seeking a ban in this regard. The verdict was in his favor yesterday. He may be attacked because of this.

However, Uttam Mandal denied the allegations and said that he knew nothing about the incident.

Lalpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazmul Hasan said that the police went to the spot at night after receiving the information. However, no written complaint was received in this regard. If a complaint is received, the responsible persons will be brought to justice.
