Bangladeshi company to work jointly with Starlink

Several local companies will work together with Starlink, a US satellite-based internet service provider, to set up ground earth stations in Bangladesh. As part of this, a delegation of the company is currently visiting Bangladesh. In the meantime, several companies have also signed agreements with Starlink to work in joint partnerships.

A press release sent by the press wing of the chief advisor on Saturday said that the partnership includes space allocation, construction assistance and ongoing infrastructure maintenance.

As a result of the visit of the Starlink delegation, Bangladeshi companies have learned about their areas of interest. In some cases, local companies will provide assistance using their own resources, while in some cases, Starlink is considering using land in the Hi-Tech Park.

Faiz Ahmed Tayyab, special assistant to the chief advisor, said that detailed discussions regarding location and implementation are underway.

Faiz Ahmed expressed optimism that Starlink will ensure uninterrupted and high-speed internet in Bangladesh’s cities and remote areas, northern regions and coastal areas, which will be free from load shedding or natural disaster disruptions. He added, “It will ensure uninterrupted and high-quality services. Since the coverage of telecom-grade fiber networks in Bangladesh is limited and load shedding is still a problem in many remote areas, Starlink will accelerate the daily activities and digital economic initiatives of our entrepreneurs, freelancers, NGOs and SME businessmen.”

Faiz Ahmed said, “We will continue to try to implement a rational model with Starlink within the next 90 days.”

Principal Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus invited top US businessman and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk to visit Bangladesh in a letter on February 19 and urged him to launch Starlink satellite services in the country.

Quoting the Chief Advisor, Faiz Ahmed said that through his visit to Bangladesh, he will have the opportunity to meet the youth of the country, who will be one of the main beneficiaries of this cutting-edge technology.

It is worth noting that the Chief Advisor had a telephone conversation with Elon Musk on February 13. The discussion included future cooperation and the launch of Starlink satellite internet services in Bangladesh.
