BNP wants early elections
BNP has demanded that UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres complete electoral reforms and hold national elections soon. According to the party, the elections should be held under an interim government. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made this demand while talking to reporters on Wednesday (March 15) afternoon. He said that he expressed this desire during Guterres’ meeting with the National Consensus Commission, leaders of various political parties and other stakeholders.

According to a report by Jamuna Television, Fakhrul told reporters after the meeting with Guterres. BNP Standing Committee member Salauddin Ahmed was with him at the time. Regarding the meeting, Salauddin Ahmed said that the UN believes that the people of Bangladesh will decide how and when the reforms and elections will be held. Because this is an internal matter of the country.
Earlier, Fakhrul and Salauddin arrived at the Intercontinental Dhaka in the capital to attend the meeting with Guterres. Guterres arrived in Bangladesh on Thursday (March 13) for a four-day visit at the invitation of Principal Adviser Muhammad Yunus.
The UN Secretary-General met with the Principal Adviser on Friday (March 14) morning. Later, he flew to Cox’s Bazar on the same flight to visit Rohingya refugee camps and join the Rohingya for iftar.
