Woman rescued alive after falling into river from launch

Desk Report:A woman named Masuma Akhter (42) was rescued alive an hour and a half after falling into the river from a launch. Chandpur Naval Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) AKMS Iqbal confirmed this information to Dhaka Post on Monday (December 9) evening.

Masuma Akhter is the wife of Sheikh Barikat Ullah of Sachanmegh village in Subidpur union of Faridganj upazila of Chandpur.

According to Chandpur Sadar Naval Police Station, Masuma Akhter set off from Chandpur launch ghat on MV Eagle-3 launch at 9:30 am today. Around 10 am, she took out money from her bag to pay the fare of the launch in Anand Bazar area of ​​Tapurchandi union of Sadar upazila in Meghna River. When a piece of money started flying in the air, she slipped and fell into the river from the moving launch. Later, with the help of local fishermen, the Naval Police rescued her alive at 11:30 am.

Chandpur Sadar Naval Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) AKMS Iqbal said, Masuma Akhter kept swimming after falling into the river. Naval police, with the help of local people and fishermen, rescued her alive after an hour and a half. Later, she was given primary treatment at the 250-bed Government General Hospital in Chandpur and recovered. After that, she was given the custody of her family.
