Government is trying to provide proper treatment and rehabilitation to those injured in the mass uprising: Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor Abdul Hafiz

The interim government is ‘making every effort’ to provide good treatment and rehabilitation to those injured in the July Uprising, said Lieutenant General (retd) Abdul Hafiz, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser on Defence and National Integration Development.

Abdul Hafiz said this at a view-sharing and Eid gift distribution program with those injured in the July Uprising at the National Ophthalmology Institute and Hospital auditorium in Agargaon in the capital on Tuesday. A non-political organization called Jagrata Nagorik Samaj organized the program. Later, the Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser visited the specialized ward for patients injured in the anti-discrimination student movement program at the National Orthopedic Hospital and Rehabilitation Institute (Pangu Hospital) and handed over Eid gifts to them.

Addressing the injured, Abdul Hafiz said, ‘Your sacrifice is unforgettable, unparalleled. We could not stand on the streets and struggle like you. We could not give up. That’s why I envy you.’ Brigadier General Jalal Uddin, head of health affairs at the July Shaheed Smriti Foundation, said, ‘Your contribution will be written in golden letters. We will make arrangements so that this heroic story can be known from generation to generation.’

In the ceremony, gifts were handed over to 140 people undergoing treatment at the National Institute of Ophthalmology and 130 people undergoing treatment at Pangu Hospital. The gift packets contained 1 kg of polao rice, 1 kg of lentils, 2 liters of soybean oil, 1 kg of sugar, 2 packets of laccha semai, raisins, garam masala, powdered milk and noodles. At this time, Director of the National Institute of Ophthalmology and Hospital, Professor Md. Khair Ahmed Chowdhury and Chairman of Jagrata Nagorik Samaj, Professor Abdul Hamid spoke.

Also present at the event were Jagrata Nagorik Samaj Advisory Board member Alamgir Hossain, Brigadier General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam, Vice Chairman Brigadier General (Retd.) Nasimul Gani, Major (Retd.) Zaman, General Secretary Md. Mehedi Hasan, Assistant General Secretary Zahid, Public Relations Secretary Rizwana Kabir, and others.
