Hanging bodies of two women, including a pregnant woman, recovered in Kalamakanda
The bodies of a pregnant woman and a housewife have been recovered in Kalmakanda, Netrokona. The local police and police recovered the two bodies from two separate places in the upazila on Tuesday. Later, they were sent to the Netrokona Modern Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The two deceased are Liza Akhter (20), the second wife of Ehsanul Haque of Shingpur village in Kalmakanda Sadar Union, and Nurunnahar (23), the pregnant wife of Md. Mizanur Rahman of Taranagar village in Lengura Union.
According to some local residents and police and police sources, Ehsanul Haque married Liza Akhter about 18 months ago. Since marriage, Liza had been living on rent in a flat in Kalmakanda Madhy Bazar. Liza and her husband had been arguing over various family matters for several months. Liza had locked the bedroom door this afternoon. The family members informed the police after not receiving any response from her. Later, the housewife Liza’s body was recovered after breaking the door of the house and wrapping her headscarf around the grill.
On the other hand, Nurunnahar, a pregnant woman and mother of one, fell asleep after eating dinner last Monday as usual. When Nurunnahar’s mother-in-law called her for sahur, she did not respond. At that time, Nurunnahar’s husband Mizanur Rahman, who was in the room, woke up and did not see his wife in bed. At one stage of the search, he found her wrapped in a headscarf around the house. Later, the police recovered the body.
On receiving information, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Kalmakanda Police Station Muhammad Firoz Hossain said that the bodies of the two have been sent to the Netrokona Modern Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. Two separate cases of accidental death have been filed with the police station in the incident. The police are investigating the matter. In addition, further legal action will be taken after receiving the autopsy report.
