Home Affairs Advisor: Demand
Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that the demand to restore ‘Except Israel’ or excluding Israel in Bangladeshi passports is ‘very reasonable’. He said that a decision on this issue will be taken after discussing with the Foreign Ministry. On Tuesday, a memorandum demanding the restoration of ‘Except Israel’ was submitted to the Home Affairs Advisor by the National Revolutionary Council at the Secretariat. The Home Affairs Advisor made this comment while accepting the memorandum.
Home Affairs Advisor: Demand
Md. Anisur Rahman, political head of the National Revolutionary Council, and Abdul Wahed, convener of the Revolutionary Students Council, met the advisor and handed over the memorandum.
The memorandum criticized the decision to remove ‘Except Israel’ from the passport in 2021 and demanded that any attempt to establish relations with Israel be rejected.
The memorandum calls for the cessation of the use of Israeli spyware ‘Pegasus’ and for the Bangladesh government to play an effective role for the independence of Palestine.
It is worth noting that the National Revolutionary Council has been continuing its protests on this demand since February 14.
