The Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) has taken a month-long program to mark the anniversary of the July Uprising. The party will start the program with a mass meeting demanding justice for the July 3 genocide, reforms and elections.
The party’s general secretary Bazlur Rashid Firoz announced these programs after a meeting held at the party’s Shegunbagicha Vanguard Auditorium on Tuesday (July 1) afternoon.
At the meeting, Bazlur Rashid Firoz said that the month-long program will start with a mass meeting in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka at 3 pm on Thursday, July 3 to demand justice for the July genocide, reforms and elections. Later, the midnight resistance of Dhaka University students on July 14, the observance of the Day against State Oppression on July 15, the commemoration of the martyrs of the movement on July 16-23, the Resistance Day of private university students on July 19, the Curfew-breaking cultural activists and leftists on July 26, the Workers’ Resistance Day on July 29, and later, a seminar and victory procession-meeting titled ‘Expectations and Achievements of the July Uprising’ will be held. Bazlur Rashid Firoz complained that there are various excuses being made regarding the trial of the murders committed in the July Movement, the minimum democratic reforms of the state for fair, free and acceptable elections, and the return of the people’s voting rights through elections. Despite various things like abuse of state power, corruption, looting, etc., many complaints are being heard.
