Netanyahu says ‘just the beginning’
Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have killed more than 400 Palestinians in a single day, breaking the ceasefire. Another 550 people have been injured. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned that this situation is ‘just the beginning’. BBC and Al Jazeera reported. The Israeli military suddenly launched a massive airstrike on Gaza early Tuesday morning. At the time, Gazans returning to their destroyed homes were eating sehri. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, 404 Palestinians were killed and 556 were injured in the attack.
When the whole world is condemning the brutal massacre that broke the ongoing ceasefire, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s voice is arrogant. On Tuesday night, he said that Israel has started a full-scale war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
In a video statement, he warned that this is only the beginning. The ceasefire talks will continue amid intense attacks in the future.
Although Israeli forces have carried out some drone strikes since the ceasefire began on January 19, this airstrike was the most intense.
The Israeli military carried out simultaneous airstrikes on dozens of areas, including Gaza City, Beit Lahia in northern Gaza, the Nuseirat refugee camp, Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, and Khan Younis and Rafah in southern Gaza.
The Israeli military claims that Israeli planes bombed Hamas targets in Gaza. However, most of the casualties were civilians, most of them women and children.
Netanyahu says ‘just the beginning’
In a speech broadcast on Israeli television, Netanyahu claimed that we extended the ceasefire for several weeks, although we did not get the hostages back in return.
He claimed that we sent representatives to Doha for talks and also accepted the proposal of US Ambassador Steve Witkoff, but Hamas rejected all the proposals.
It is worth noting that US Ambassador Witkoff made a proposal to both sides, in which the release of five Israeli prisoners for a 50-day ceasefire, in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners and access to humanitarian aid in Gaza, and the start of the second phase of the three-phase ceasefire were proposed.
Agreeing to the proposal, Hamas said on Friday that they would release an Israeli-American soldier and return the bodies of four Israeli hostages as part of the start of the second phase of negotiations for the Gaza ceasefire and prisoner exchange.
But Netanyahu wants the release of five Israelis still alive who are being held by Hamas. Israel believes that Hamas still has 59 hostages, 24 of whom are probably alive.
Netanyahu said on Tuesday, “We warned Hamas that if they do not release the prisoners, we will start fighting again, and that is what we did.”
