Robbery at four flats in a building in Mugda

A robbery incident took place in four flats of a building in Mugda Green Model Town Society in the capital on Monday morning. Police say the robbers looted money and gold ornaments. Four people were injured in their sharp weapons.

Mugda Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sajedur Rahman told Prothom Alo that a group of 15 to 20 robbers came in front of the building in the early hours of the morning. Seven to eight of them climbed the wall of the building and entered inside and robbed. All of their faces were covered with cloth and masks. The OC said that the robbers could not be identified yet as there were no CCTV cameras around the building. However, their fingerprints and footprints are found in the flats where the robbery took place. The Crime Scene Unit of the CID has collected various evidence. Efforts are being made to identify the members of the robbery group through the CID.

Police sources said that some officials of a private bank had bought land together and built the house themselves and were living there. The robbers entered the building and took the building’s security guard hostage at gunpoint. Later, they broke down the doors of four flats on the second, third and fifth floors and robbed them. A case has been registered in this incident. On the morning of March 26, a brutal robbery took place in a six-story building on the Viqarunnisa School lane on Dhanmondi Road No. 8 in the capital. A group of people posing as RAB beat and tied up the security guards, entered the building’s jewelry shop and several businesses, and looted about 3.6 million taka and gold ornaments. At one stage, they also attacked the police.
