‘We are the BNP family’ behind Shanto Biswas of Sirajganj

A delegation of ‘Amra BNP Paribas’ met the family of Shanto Biswas, a meritorious student from Kamarkhand Upazila of Sirajganj who got admission in Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). During the meeting at 7:30 pm on Monday, it was announced that this meritorious student from a poor family will be provided with monthly education allowance every month.

A press release of ‘Amra BNP Paribas’ said that a delegation met Shanto Biswas’ family under the direction of BNP Acting Chairman and ‘Amra BNP Paribas’ main sponsor Tarique Rahman. Present at the time were ‘Amra BNP Paribas’ convener and BNP Media Cell member Atiqur Rahman (Rumon), Sirajganj District BNP convener Rumana Mahmud, ‘Amra BNP Paribas’ member secretary Mokchedul Momin, Sirajganj District Volunteer Dal convener Abdullah Al Kayes, former vice-president of Central Chhatra Dal Jamil Hossain, Mirpur Thana BNP leader Shakil Molla, among others.

At that time, Atiqur Rahman said, “We have come to meet Shanto Biswas and his father on the instructions of Tarique Rahman, the acting chairman of the ‘BNP family’. Tarique Rahman sent us to meet him and convey his good wishes after seeing the news of Shanto Biswas in a daily newspaper. The acting chairman wished the talented student Shanto Biswas more success in the future. A monthly education allowance will be given every month.”

It is worth noting that Shanto Biswas is the son of Kalpana Biswas and Joykrishna Biswas of Gopalpur village in Kamarkhand upazila. Shanto is the elder of the two siblings. His younger sister Trishna Biswas is a ninth-grade student of the local Chaubari Islamia High School.

Joykrishna Biswas makes trumpets at home and sells them in villages. Their family somehow runs on the money that her mother earns by spinning yarn at home. Shanto got admission in Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) after studying hard in a poor family. But his admission and studies became uncertain due to financial reasons.

On Monday, Prothom Alo published a news story online under the headline ‘Santo Biswas’s admission and studies are financially uncertain despite getting admission to BUET and KUET’.
